A Parisian boutique where sneaker expertise is on full display.
In the heart of Paris's 3rd arrondissement, the National Standard boutique in the Marais embodies understated elegance and French craftsmanship. Since 2014, it has established itself as a leading destination for lovers of premium French shoes , where each pair tells a story of materials, craftsmanship, and passion.
In a neighborhood where Parisian creativity thrives, this minimalist space blends contemporary design with meticulous attention to detail . More than just a boutique, it's an experiential space: a salon dedicated to fine footwear, where leather, light, and music interact with customers.
Context & Origin
Located at 38 rue de Saintonge , the Marais boutique is National Standard's first historic address. Conceived as a natural extension of the brand, it reflects the founding philosophy: Discreet and sustainable luxury, born from artisanal expertise and the use of the finest materials.
In a fashion landscape often dominated by mass production, National Standard champions a different rhythm: that of precision and sustainability. Each piece is crafted in Portugal, in our partner workshop, using leathers certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) , guaranteeing traceability and respect for the environment.
We collaborate with the workshop where we started. Together, we develop custom leathers and refine the construction of each sneaker to guarantee the flexibility and longevity of every model.
Design & Expertise
Upon entering, your eye is immediately drawn to the wooden shelves displaying the brand's iconic sneakers. The khaki walls , the subdued lighting , and the subtle scent of leather create an atmosphere that is both calming and inspiring.
On the left, a raw concrete room serves as a showcase for our pairs, while at the back, a lounge with geometric shapes in wood invites you to try them on in hushed comfort.
Every detail has been carefully considered: the Bertoia chairs , the electro-jazz playlist , the premium natural materials used for the furniture . Everything is thoughtfully designed, in a constant pursuit of balance and precision.
Behind this carefully designed presentation lies the same high standards as in our workshops: each pair passes through expert hands, from the cutting of the leather to the final stitching, before arriving on the shelves of the Marais.

Portrait of Guillaume – the human experience
At the center of this experience is Guillaume , a key figure in the Marais boutique.
With 15 years of experience in luxury footwear , he joined National Standard four years ago. He knows the construction of each product and can answer all your questions, from materials to assembly. A true leather specialist, he can recognize the perfect pair for your foot at a glance and always explains why, simply and accurately.
“A good shoe is first and foremost about craftsmanship — you should feel the hand of the artisan, not the machine.” — Guillaume, National Standard Advisor
Guillaume takes the time to understand the customer, to explain the differences in leather, the subtleties of assembly, and maintenance techniques. His presence, his gaze, and his advice contribute to the spirit of the boutique.
Maintenance & Durability
At National Standard, shoe care is part of the philosophy.
Guillaume often says it, quite sensibly: “Maintaining it prolongs the beauty of the leather.”
Regular polishing, a soft brush, a natural waterproofing spray. These are all simple steps, and all the necessary products are available in store.
The Marais boutique even offers personalized advice depending on the material and color of the leather.
That's also what French-style slow fashion is all about : owning less, but better.
Conclusion & Key Points
In summary:
The Marais store embodies the National Standard spirit : sobriety, high standards, sustainability.
-
Guillaume is its ambassador, transmitting the passion for French know-how every day .
-
The address at 38 rue de Saintonge is much more than a point of sale: it is a place of experience for lovers of beauty.
