At National Standard, materials are the starting point in designing durable and eco-responsible sneakers. What we see, what we touch, what we wear. Leather, canvas, linings, laces: nothing is secondary. Each component plays a role in use, comfort, fit, and feel. Each material is chosen for what it brings: function, durability, and feel. We believe in the essential, but in a demanding essential. The kind that isn't always visible at first glance, but reveals itself over time, with use, in the details.

We select our leathers from regions where this expertise has been passed down for generations. Full-grain hides, controlled grain, rich and vibrant textures. These are leathers that speak of craftsmanship.
As much as resistance. Which develop a patina over time, with the rhythm of your use. Our certified leathers contribute to the creation of eco-responsible and durable sneakers.
We use different types of leather:
- Soft, textured suede calfskin.
- Grained leather, for its robust feel and its ability to last for years without losing its shape.
- And sometimes, technical fabric, to open the material to other readings, to other uses but always in a balance of lines and contrasts of textures.
What we love about leather is its ability to live. To not cheat. It's a material that evolves, that develops marks, that retains its character. It compels us to do things right from the start, because nothing is hidden. Leather reveals everything, and that's what makes it noble. That's why we place sustainability and responsibility at the heart of our material choices for our premium, eco-conscious sneakers.

A sustainable and eco-responsible sneaker isn't just about its upper. It's a complete design. That's why we meticulously choose every detail, in keeping with our commitments. Our outsoles are made of natural rubber. For their comfort, flexibility, and resistance to wear—but also for their lighter environmental footprint. This choice directly contributes to the manufacturing of
Eco-friendly sneakers. Our laces are made of 100% waxed cotton, a simple, natural material that ensures a better fit and a cleaner, more precise look. Inside, our shoes are lined with organic cotton or untreated natural leather for optimal comfort, improved breathability, and a purer feel against the skin. These components contribute to the high quality and durability of our premium sneakers.
Our EVA insoles
We also work with EVA midsoles, a lightweight and flexible material known for its shock-absorbing properties. We chose this material because EVA provides genuine, lasting comfort without adding bulk. It moves with the foot, cushions pressure, and preserves the sneaker's lightness, day after day.
It is a technical material, used in sports as well as in lifestyle, which meets our usage requirements: comfort, fit, durability, and contributes to the manufacture of durable and eco-responsible sneakers.
